Nothing Official On Reyes
12:05 PM, 03/10

Update: Despite reports last evening that said SS Jose Reyes of the New York Mets had indeed an overactive thyroid,Reyes agent said this morning that Reyes has a very minor case of thyroid over activity. Speaking with the New York Times, Peter Greenberg said,"We're waiting for the final results tomorrow, but all indications are that it's the most minimal case of hyperthyroidism possible. The doctor was very pleased and so is Jose." A frustrated Reyes told MLB.com's Marty Noble last night,"I don't know what's going on, this is the first time I've ever had something like this.I have to be worried. I can't do anything. ... I'm getting tired of it. My team is always playing without me. I want to play."

Fantasy Impact: It appears the good news is that Reyes has something that is perfectly treatable. The bad news is that he will have to wait another two weeks for results from a second round of blood tests. At this point there is absolutely no indication when Reyes will be able to return to baseball activities. He will more than likely return at some point fairly early in the year, but if you own him or draft him you will need to make alternate plans. His stock value may plunge a bit and if you are still awaiting your draft you may be able to pick him up on the cheap.
